Izzy Green has spoken out about struggles at West Brom Women after the 2-1 defeat to Hull City on Sunday (6 October).

The opposition opened the scoring in the first half before doubling their lead after the half-time break, with Hannah George's goal only a consolation against the Tigresses.

It was certainly a disappointing result ahead of the Baggies' all-important clash against Black Country rivals Wolves at The Hawthorns on Sunday 13 October, and Green did not hide away.

Speaking after the defeat [WBA, 7 October], the defender said: "We started well and then they got the goal and we started to play too much into their hands.

“We didn’t really get the ball on the floor and play our game the way we like to do. They made it very transitional and especially in the first half, we struggled to get the ball down and play.

"In the second half, we did start really well and had some good chances which, if we’d have taken, could have made it a very different game. They got their bodies behind the ball and defended well, and I think in the final third we just have to be a little bit better.”

West Brom Women falter ahead of Black Country derby v Wolves

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still's side will certainly need to play a lot better if they are to put up a fight against their biggest rivals, especially in front of a packed-out home crowd.

The Black Country derby being played at The Hawthorns is a brilliant chance for fans to get involved with the women's team, but no one will want to see a hammering.

While Hodgetts-Still's players did manage to pull a goal back in the final 20 minutes, showing some signs of a fightback, it was too little, too late for the Baggies.

Green is spot on with her analysis of the side's performance, especially with such a big match coming up. Improvements will certainly need to be made in the final third as well as fewer goals being conceded.

The Wolves clash will be extremely difficult for the Baggies, but it is a huge chance to prove themselves against a tough opponent in front of a passionate home crowd.
