West Brom scout ‘really proud’ to welcome new goalkeeper to The Hawthorns as deal done
Nick Rose is delighted to welcome Joe Wallis to West Brom after the goalkeeper’s arrival at The Hawthorns last month.
The Baggies announced via their official website on 5 September that the New Zealand Under-20 international has joined on a two-year contract.
Welcoming the youngster to the club via his LinkedIn account on Thursday (10 October), youth scout Rose labelled him as an exciting young player.
Rose wrote: “I’m really proud to be able to welcome New Zealand U20 International Goalkeeper Joe Wallis to West Bromwich Albion.”
“A top young talent and a humble young man.”
Joe Wallis links up with West Brom U21s after the Hawthorns switch
It appears Rose trusts Wallis to rise through the ranks and make a name for himself at West Brom.
The scout worked for Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa arriving at the Hawthorns and his approval is a testament to the youngster’s abilities.
Having linked with Richard Beale’s U21s setup, Wallis has already made one PL2 appearance, starting in the side’s 2-1 win against Chelsea.
Although he has remained on the bench in the last two games, he will be determined to usurp Ben Cisse for the place between the sticks.
Meanwhile, Alex Palmer has been guarding the goal for Carlos Corberan’s senior side, keeping five clean sheets in nine games.

The 28-year-old has largely been impressive as the team’s number 1, but was lucky to scare against Middlesbrough on 1 October.
The goalkeeper was also on the receiving end of criticism from Michael Dawson after the 3-2 loss at Hillsbrough.
Palmer was, nevertheless, one of the best performers in the stalemate against Millwall last Saturday (5 October), making four saves per Sofascore.
In other West Brom news, Curtis Davies has opened up about a failed departure from the club.
