Grady Diangana sends one-word message to Matheus Pereira after ex-West Brom star news
Grady Diangana has expressed his delight at former West Brom teammate Matheus Pereira making his debut for Brazil.
Pereira made his senior debut for Brazil on Wednesday (16 October), coming on as a 78th-minute substitute for Raphinha in their 4-0 win over Peru.
The 28-year-old, who left the Baggies in 2021 after a two-year spell, later took to social media to express his gratitude.
Diangana was among a few current and former West Brom players to congratulate Pereira, writing: “Craquee”.
Former defender Nathan Ferguson labelled the attacker a “magician”, while Darnell Furlong, Romaine Sawyers, Conor Townsend and Kyle Edwards applauded him.
Matheus Pereira is remembered fondly at West Brom
It has been over four years since Pereira put an end to his spell at the Hawthorns, but he remains a favourite at the club.
It is no surprise that West Brom fans were thrilled when the player was called up to the Brazil national team in Lucas Paqueta’s place at the weekend.
Pereira is an example of a player leaving a lasting impression on everyone at the club, including teammates and fans, during a comparatively short stint.
He made 77 appearances across all competitions during his two years at the club, bagging 20 goals and 26 assists and helping them earn promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

In April this year, Pereira revealed that an “absurd” offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal was the reason he left the Hawthorns.
While he is now back in Brazil playing for Cruzeiro, there is no doubt that West Brom fans would love to see him back at the club one day.
In other West Brom news, this Championship star has taken an apparent swipe at Baggies boss Carlos Corberan.
