David Prutton predicts Oxford United v West Brom scoreline amid Carlos Corberan admission

David Prutton has predicted West Brom to bounce back to winning ways against Oxford United after Carlos Corberan worked his players hard during the international break.

The Baggies face the newly promoted side at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday 19 October, hoping to secure a win after three games without.

The international break arguably came at the right time with just six players missing with their countries.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast on 17 October, Prutton revealed his prediction while suggesting Corberan hadn’t given his players any rest during the break.

He said: “It’s one that Carlos has got to be wary of. Sometimes in an international break, depending on the manager, you get a block of time off. Carlos Corberan does not strike me as the type of fella who has said to the West Brom lads: “Have a week off lads, see you in a little bit.”

“I think they’ll have been worked and worked and worked, and drilled. I think you’re going to see a reaction from a three-game winless run.

“Do I think that West Brom are going to get back on the horse? You know what, yes, with the greatest respect to Oxford who I think have been magnificent. Oxford United one, West Brom two.”

Albion have had a tough time in recent weeks with their early season form being dampened somewhat by three games without a win.

There was plenty of fanfare for Corberan’s side after an unbeaten start to the campaign in the Championship which saw them fighting at the top of the table.

Late defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough came as a surprise and dealt a sucker punch to the Baggies.

This frustrating run was halted by a goalless draw against Millwall last time out but a win against the U’s would certainly add some positivity back to The Hawthorns.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Corberan’s side will perform after the international break, especially with starting regulars like Torbjorn Heggem going away for two weeks.

If the Spaniard has had his players working hard throughout the break, there is no reason why they can’t secure three points against the newly promoted side away from home.

In other West Brom news, a “mystery” has now emerged at The Hawthorns as a transfer claim has now been made.
