Torbjorn Heggem has emerged as one of the new stars at West Brom this season, with his performance in the 0-0 draw against Blackburn proving it.

The Baggies travelled to Lancashire to take on John Eustace's team in the Championship on 23 October, leaving with a point and a clean sheet.

However, despite a poor showing in front of goal from West Brom and the general lack of creativity in the final third, fans would certainly have been impressed with the defensive shift on show.

Heggem was key yet again as the Baggies kept their fifth clean sheet of the season in the Championship, this time without Kyle Bartley starting.

Torbjorn Heggem repays West Brom faith

Heggem has emerged as one of Carlos Corberan's most essential players in the current campaign, starting in every game.

The Norwegian made a name for himself as a centre-back before completing a £525,000 move to the Hawthorns from IF Brommapojkarna in the previous transfer window [Expressen, 25 June].

However, Corberan has preferred to deploy the 25-year-old at left-back all season, and he hasn't looked out of place in the team.

Against Blackburn, Heggem was one of the best players on the pitch, with 80 per cent passing accuracy, winning 83 per cent of his aerial duels and 71 per cent of his ground duels, according to FotMob.

In fact, the 25-year-old won more duels than any other player on the pitch, with 10.

Hopefully, with Corberan finding stability in his backline, Heggem and his partners at the back can propel Albion towards the Premier League.
