West Brom ready two-man shortlist amid new Carlos Corberan exit twist
West Brom will approach Mark Robbins or Steve Cooper if Carlos Corberan leaves for Leicester City, according to DOOD.
The reliable news outlet reported on 26 November that the Foxes are considering activating Corberan’s buyout clause as they sacked Cooper recently.
It’s understood that the Spaniard is unlikely to turn down a move to the King Power Stadium given the allure of Premier League football.
DOOD wrote on X: “As of this morning nothing from Leicester and no buy out clause has been activated.
“Leicester are seriously considering activating his buy out clause tho. They remain very fond of him.
“Carlos could still turn them down tbf but I highly doubt he would. He gets a shot a Premier league football.
“Robbins or Cooper would be main targets for #WBA going forward if Carlos was to go.”
Mark Robbins will be the ideal man for the West Brom job
Robbins emerges as an ideal candidate for the Baggies job due to his proven track record in the EFL.
His tenure at Coventry City showcased his ability to manage a team through adversity, achieving promotion from League Two to the Championship and making notable runs in cup competitions, including a comeback in last season’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.
Robbins’ experience with financial constraints and building teams from limited resources would be highly beneficial for West Brom, especially if they are looking to seal promotion.
His tactical acumen and ability to foster a resilient team spirit align well with the club’s need for stability and progression.
Additionally, his recent sacking from Coventry means he’s currently unattached, which eliminates the need for a compensation fee, making his appointment financially attractive.
This scenario allows the Baggies to invest in squad improvements without the added expense of managerial compensation, presenting a cost-effective solution to their leadership needs.
