Tony Brown blown away by what he saw in West Brom first half v Coventry
Tony Brown was blown away by West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt’s first-half goal in their Championship clash with Coventry on Wednesday.
The Baggies were aiming to climb back into the playoff spots after a run of ten draws from their last 11 Championship matches.
Former Leeds United man Mowatt opened the scoring for Carlos Corberan’s side with a deflected volley in the 11th minute.
Albion legend Brown was impressed by the strike [BBC Radio WM, 20:10 11 December], saying: “I think it got a deflection there but it’s a great goal from Mowatt because he’s got his body over it and kept it down.
“It was going in that far corner initially, I’d give it to him.”
West Brom need a win
If they are to secure a playoff berth, the Baggies need to start winning matches rather than drawing them.
Corberan has been under pressure during that winless run, with some supporters calling for the Spaniard to be sacked.
However, they would do well to remember where the club was when took over, in a relegation dogfight and he took them to playoff contention.

He has been linked with the Wolves and Leicester jobs in recent weeks but Albion fans should hope that he sticks around.
The former Leeds manager is not expected to win promotion this season, so he is expected to stick around for the foreseeable future.
That should be music to the ears of Baggies supporters as he is the calibre of manager that should be able to lead them back to the Premier League.
In other West Brom news, Frank Lampard gave an excuse for the Baggies ahead of the clash.
