West Brom fans all say same thing about John Swift after what he did v Coventry
West Brom fans were all in agreement that John Swift changed the game in the 2-0 win against Coventry City on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old was introduced for the second half at The Hawthorns [11 December] in place of forward Josh Maja, with Carlos Corberan looking to consolidate his one-goal advantage.
And despite receiving the brunt of the slack from the Baggies faithful for his recent displays, Swift produced a “quality” performance on the night, as Karlan Grant’s 74th-minute strike settled the contest.

Although the change could be perceived as negative, with Corberan removing his main attacking threat on the night, the supporters recognised the genius behind the decision as the Spaniard ended a four-match winless streak for Albion.
One supporter lauded his “positive” impact from the bench while another suggested the midfielder should have started on the night, writing: “Just due to how Cov play and how he’d suit those pockets of space between their defence and midfield, did well I thought when he came on and helped us move it better in the final third.”
Swift even managed to win over the doubters with his display at The Hawthorns, with one supporter admitting “I’m not swifts biggest fan but I thought he offered a bit of control today and looked closer to his early form last season than he has done at any point this season.”
Swift still has a long way to go before he is in a position to challenge Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt for a starting berth in the West Brom midfield, but he has certainly proven to the supporters that he can play a role in the playoff bid this year.
With a quick turnaround for the clash against Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday [15 December], he will undoubtedly be in Corberan’s thinking after a dominant display.
