Carlos Corberan exit: ‘Shock’ Wolves news as Gary O’Neil sacked
Wolves have sacked Gary O’Neil and West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is a “shock” name on their shortlist to replace him, according to Alan Nixon.
Nixon reported via his Patreon on Sunday (15 December) that Wolves have been sounding out potential managers and Corberan has emerged as a candidate over the weekend, with the club eager to fill the vacancy as soon as possible.
The Spaniard has taken West Brom to seventh in the Championship this season as they seek promotion to the top flight.
Wolves parted ways with O’Neil on Sunday after his side fell to 2-1 defeat against Ipswich Town following a 94th-minute Jack Taylor goal.
Carlos Corberan leaving West Brom for Wolves?
As Wolves seek out a new manager to try and turn their fortunes around this season, it’s not a surprise to see Corberan named on their list.
The Spanish manager has proven himself as a good Championship manager and has taken West Brom to a strong position this term.
Supporters at The Hawthorns will no doubt be worried about this news given they are in their own push for promotion from the Championship this season.

Although the Baggies have become synonymous with drawing games over recent weeks, they still sit in a strong place and if they can rectify this curse on a consistent basis they will no doubt rise back up the table.
Despite having a project to complete at West Brom, you can see the attraction of a move to his side’s Black Country rivals for the boss himself.
The 41-year-old will be keen to push himself and will no doubt be eyeing a move to the top flight as soon as he can.
The manager could well have a decision on his hands now, choosing whether to complete his existing work or try and pull off what could be a huge challenge at Wolves.
In other West Brom news, fans have been in hysterics after footage of Wolves players has emerged from Molineux.
