West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has been named among the favourites to become Wolves manager after Gary O'Neil was sacked.

The 41-year-old looks set to lose his job at Molineux after John Percy reported (15 December) that the Old Gold had sacked the ex-Bournemouth head coach.

This comes after a home defeat against Ipswich Town on Saturday (14 December) where fights broke out after the final whistle.

Now the Baggies' Black Country rivals are in search of a new manager and Corberan has been named as the second favourite at 4/1 by Bet Victor.

The Spaniard is ahead of Sergio Conceicao at 8/1 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the outright favourite at 2/1, while Steve Cooper comes in at 12/1.

It doesn't really come as a surprise that O'Neil has lost the sack race with Wolves given their form in recent weeks.

The Old Gold have won just two matches all season while losing 11 which leaves them sat 19th in the Premier League, only ahead of Southampton.

This leaves a vacant seat in the dugout at Molineux and the Albion boss Corberan has been linked with a move to take up that seat.

It is safe to say that this would not go down well at The Hawthorns for many reasons but the rivalry being the main one.

If the Spaniard was to depart it would also represent a massive blow to the promotion prospects for the Baggies who have had an up-and-down season so far.

Regardless of criticism in recent weeks, no one can debate just how good the ex-Olympiakos boss is for the club.

It will be interesting to see how the coming weeks play out but looking at the odds, it appears that Corberan could be on the shortlist to replace O'Neil in WV1.
