Mason Holgate makes honest admission after West Brom defeat v Watford
Mason Holgate has spoken openly after West Brom suffered their first defeat in 13 games against Watford on Sunday afternoon.
The Baggies fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Hornets at Vicarage Road on 15 December having found themselves two goals down before Jayson Molumby scored in the second half.
While the performance improved throughout, their lack of creativity and attacking threat continued to haunt them with Holgate expressing disappointment in an interview posted after the game.
“It’s disappointing to lose any game, but I think we’re more disappointed with the fashion of how we lost today,” he explained.
“We had our chances, but if we look at their goals and analyse them, there are things we can work on. Whether we win or whether we lose we’ve just got to keep going and be the best team we can be each game. Obviously, we’re disappointed today but there’s so many games coming over this period, it’s all about how you react.
“It’s tough to take, but we’ve got to react to it and keep going now.”
Creativity worries continue for West Brom
A lack of cutting edge in the final third has been the tale of the season so far and it begs a worrying thought to consider where the Baggies could be if Josh Maja had not hit the ground running.
Maja has been the only consistent source of goals although even that has dried up recently with no one else stepping up to the plate.
West Brom simply have to improve massively in the final third if they are to make anything of this season otherwise they risk slipping away from playoff contention.

The Baggies have already dropped out of the top six after this weekend but chances are still very much there to earn success this season although much of that will hinge on their business in January.
Attacking reinforcements are going to be essential to their promotion hopes and failure to address that will prove detrimental to their campaign.
