West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is among the favourites to replace Russell Martin at Southampton.

The Saints sacked the Scottish national after their 5-0 defeat against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, and the Baggies' head coach has been tipped for the vacancy [BBC, 15 December].

Corberan has also been named as an option to take over at Wolves after they relieved Gary O'Neil of his duties over the weekend.

Southampton are searching for a new head coach, and the Spaniard is a 6/1 option to make his way to the St Mary's Stadium [Bet Victor].

The 41-year-old is on the list alongside Graham Potter and David Moyes, with Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl placed as favourite to succeed Martin.

Southampton interest in West Brom boss Carlos Corberan not surprising

Corberan's stock has risen since he was appointed in The Hawthorns dugout after Steve Bruce's abysmal end at the West Midland's club.

The Baggies made it to the Championship play-offs last season but lost to Southampton, who were eventually promoted to the Premier League.

In the 2024/25 campaign, the Spanish head coach had an impressive start, winning five of the first six league fixtures, but West Brom have experienced a downturn in recent months.

The Baggies have won just two of their last 15 Championship matches, albeit with a long run of draws in between.

Watford managed to get the better of Corberan's team at Vicarage Road on Sunday [15 December], leaving the West Midlands club eighth in the league table.

All is still not lost at The Albion, though, who are only two points behind Middlesbrough in the play-offs.
