Grant hails ‘amazing’ forward West Brom once wanted to sign to replace Berahino

West Brom forward Karlan Grant has hailed Ademola Lookman after he was crowned CAF’s Men’s Player of the Year.

Grant took to Instagram [16 December] to share his support for the fellow forward after the news of his win was announced on social media.

West Brom were linked with a move for the now 27-year-old a number of years ago [The Sun] as a replacement for Saido Berahino amid his falling out with the club.

Grant screenshotted confirmation of Lookman’s award and added captioned it: “Amazing bro”.

West Brom could have had Ademola Lookman

Rather than a move to The Hawthorns, Lookman has since played for the likes of Everton and Leicester City in the Premier League and is now with Atalanta, where he has been playing Champions League football this season.

Therefore, this shows the level of talent in the forward and in retrospect, it would have been an ambitious signing had the Baggies been able to make it happen.

It’s clear that the club’s current forward sees the talent in Lookman and fans surely would have loved to see the pair play together at The Hawthorns.

With West Brom currently in the Championship, seeking a place in the play-offs with the hope of promotion to the top flight, seeing where previously linked players are now probably stirs up some feelings of longing to progress to where the supporters feel they should be.

Nevertheless, Grant can make himself the most important man in the West Midlands if he can continue to add to his goals tally this season and lead his side to the Premier League.

In other West Brom news, Jayson Molumby has been left embarrassed by a jibe after the Watford clash.
