West Brom need Karlan Grant back after Josh Maja howler v Bristol City

West Brom need Karlan Grant to return against Derby Country after Josh Maja’s performance against Bristol City.

The Baggies beat the Robins 2-0 on Sunday (22 December) in what could be Carlos Corberan’s final game in charge with the Spaniard heavily linked with a move to Valencia.

However, Maja’s display was poor compared to his usual standards and whoever is in the dugout for the Derby clash needs to recall Grant to the starting line-up provided he has recovered from his knock.

Maja disappoints in West Brom win

Albion secured their second win in their last three matches with the victory at The Hawthorns on Sunday.

The former Sunderland man has scored ten goals and notched two assists so far this campaign leading to speculation about a transfer but he struggled to influence proceedings against the Robins.

He recorded a 67 per cent pass accuracy, created one chance, had two shots but neither was on target and had just two touches in the opposition box. [Fotmob]

He also had just 24 touches, two passes into the final third and failed in his only dribble attempts of the contest.

Defensively, he won two of the five ground duels that he attempted for a 40 per cent success rate and won zero out of two aerial duels that he contested.

He should be dropped and have to settle for a place on the bench for the Boxing Day clash with Derby with Grant taking his place in the team.

In other West Brom news, the club have been urged to go for a former Premier League manager if Corberan leaves.
