West Brom new manager: Mark Robins to be installed as bookmakers' favourite

Mark Robins is set to be installed as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Carlos Corberan at West Brom, according to Oddschecker.

The Spaniard looks set to return to his home country after Valencia triggered the £2.8 million release clause in his Baggies contract. [Fabrizio Romano, 24 December]

Albion are expected to move swiftly to appoint a replacement for the 41-year-old once his departure is confirmed.

Robins would be a great appointment for West Brom

Corberan has done a great job with the Baggies since he took over in 2022, taking them from relegation candidates to playoff contenders in a short space of time.

He also had to deal with Profit and Sustainability issues stemming from Guochuan Lai's time in charge of the club.

The club are still dealing with those issues despite Shilen Patel taking the reigns and the new manager will also have to negate these lasting effects.

The former Sky Blues boss is still highly regarded and the reaction to his sacking at Coventry was one of shock rather than expectation.

Robins has a track record of dealing with financial adversity, he took cash-strapped Coventry from League Two to the Championship and was a penalty shoot-out loss away from the Premier League.

Albion should do everything that they can to ensure that they get Robins, he would arguably be an upgrade on Corberan.

In other West Brom news, the club have been urged to hire a former Premier League manager if Corberan departs.
