West Brom player set for exit in major Christmas development

Lewis Dobbin is set to return to his parent club Aston Villa, according to West Brom Extra.

The news outlet reported on Christmas day that the 21-year-old has had his loan cut short by the Villa Park outfit.

Dobbin, since his move to the Hawthorns on loan in the summer, made just one league start in his 16 league appearances.

West Brom are unlikely to miss Lewis Dobbin’s services

Dobbin’s return to Villa is unlikely to stir much disappointment among the Baggies’ fans or management.

Throughout his loan spell, Dobbin struggled to make a significant impact, managing only one league start in 16 appearances.

His limited game time and lack of goal contributions meant he was more of a squad player than a key first-team asset.

The hierarchy at Hawthorns might see his departure as an opportunity to redirect resources towards acquiring a more effective attacker in the January transfer window.

The club’s priority is clearly to bolster their forward line and they could check out Europe to bring in a proven fix.

By freeing up Dobbin’s wages, the Baggies can potentially sign a player who better fits the new manager’s tactical setup, enhancing their promotion push in the Championship.
