West Brom new manager: Lepkowski shares what he has heard about Luke Williams

West Brom have “some interest” in Swansea manager Luke Williams to replace Carlos Corberan, Chris Lepkowski has heard.

The freelance journalist revealed that the 43-year-old has been mentioned as the Baggies look to find a successor for the Spaniard.

While the Englishman is in the conversation to take charge, nothing is concrete at the moment.

Lepkowski wrote on his personal X account (29 December): “Just a mention about him [Williams]. I’ve heard there is some interest. No more.”

West Brom to appoint Luke Williams?

The Hawthorns faithful will seemingly be hoping Shilen Patel brings a progressive head coach to the Black Country club, and Williams is just that.

Under Russell Martin at the Swans, the 43-year-old was an assistant before eventually returning to manage them in January 2024.

Swansea’s form improved after the English manager’s arrival last season, and they are currently ninth in the Championship.

West Brom have failed to win their last two fixtures without Corberan after the loss to Derby County and the positive draw at Sheffield United on Sunday (29 December).

It’s unsurprising that a team like Valencia made a swoop for the Spanish head coach, considering his work at the West Midlands club.

The Baggies had a strong start to the season, and while victories dried up in Corberan’s last few months in charge, he lost just three times in the league.

Supporters will evidently want The Albion to at least get a playoff spot, and Williams could be the one to steer them into the future.

The hierarchy at The Hawthorns has a massive decision to make that could affect the prospects of the team in the coming months.
