Lewis Dobbin finds new club straight after West Brom exit

Lewis Dobbin has already found himself a new club after his exit from West Brom with a move to Norwich City on the cards, according to Jacob Tanswell.

The Athletic writer reported via X that Dobbin is set to join the Canaries after Aston Villa recalled him from his loan spell at The Hawthorns.

Despite joining on a season-long loan deal, the 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact making 17 appearances, only one from the starting line-up.

Dobbin’s loan spell with the Black Country club did not go as well as any party would have hoped and it was no surprise to see the winger recalled after reports that the Baggies were looking for this outcome [DOOD, 18 December].

Furthermore, it was inevitable that Villa were going to seek out another Championship loan spell for the second half of the season in order to increase his minutes and hopefully enable him to develop going forward.

However, some Baggies supporters will no doubt be a bit surprised that the 21-year-old has secured this loan spell so quickly. While Norwich are sitting 11th in the table, they will be expected to improve their squad and rise up the table in the second half of the campaign.

It will be interesting to see how Dobbin fares in this loan spell but it is unlikely that Albion will find themselves regretting this decision as he clearly did not fit into proceedings at The Hawthorns and when a new boss is appointed, they will want to put their own stamp on the side in the hope of promotion.
