West Brom new manager: Huge Steve Cooper update emerges

West Brom are highly unlikely to consider former Leicester City and Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, according to DOOD.

The club insider reported on 2 January that he’s still on a nice wage as he’s being paid by Leicester as he’s technically on gardening leave.

Thus far, no contact has been made with his agent to be a potential replacement for Carlos Corberan.

DOOD wrote on X: “Regarding Cooper he’s on a very nice wage currently, as he’s on gardening leave. So if he was to accept any other jobs he would give up his current contract. This is why it’s very unlikely Cooper will even be considered. No contact has been made so far with his agent.”

West Brom must move on from Steve Cooper

Steve Cooper would undoubtedly be a quality acquisition for the Baggies, given his proven track record in the second tier.

His experience in managing teams to promotion and competing in the Premier League would bring a wealth of tactical acumen and leadership to the club, potentially elevating their performance in the Championship.

However, despite his capabilities, West Brom should pragmatically move on from considering Cooper.

Currently, he is enjoying a substantial wage which he would have to forfeit to take up another position.

This financial situation makes it highly improbable for Cooper to accept a role at the Hawthorns, as it would mean a significant pay cut.

Since no contact has been made with his agent and given the financial disincentive, it’s clear that Cooper’s appointment is not on the cards.
