West Brom player set to be offered spot in WWE’s Royal Rumble

WWE employee Stu Bennett has jokingly offered West Brom defender Kyle Bartley a spot in WWE’s Royal Rumble event after an incident that happened against Preston North End.

Bartley pushed Preston’s Emil Riis over the advertising hoardings during Albion’s 3-1 win at The Hawthorns on Wednesday (1 January), which could land him in hot water.

The defender escaped with just a yellow card in what was a superb display for the Baggies, who are back up to sixth in the Championship.

Famous Preston fan Bennett, who goes by the wrestling name Wade Barrett and currently works as a commentator for WWE, has offered to find Bartley a spot in the upcoming Royal Rumble event.

Reacting to footage of the incident on X [1 January], Bennett said: “I’ll get him a spot in the Royal Rumble.”

Kyle Bartley could face West Brom punishment

Bartley was a very silly boy for pushing Riis over the advertising hoardings. It not only endangered the safety of his opponent, but also the spectators in the front row.

As former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett has exclusively told West Brom News, Bartley could face retrospective punishment for his actions.

If that is the case, it would be a major blow for West Brom as they look to build some momentum ahead of a new manager being appointed.

Chris Brunt and his coaching team have done a very good job since Carlos Corberan departed, but the sooner the Spaniard is replaced permanently, the better.

An update of sorts was provided on that front on Wednesday, and it remains to be seen just how close an appointment is to being made.

If someone is brought in before the Swansea City game on Saturday (4 January), let’s just hope Bartley is available to play.
