West Brom new manager: John Eustace now favourite after major developments
John Eustace is the new favourite to replace Carlos Corberan at West Brom after Luke Williams distanced himself from the role.
Swansea City boss Williams poured cold water on the prospect of him pitching up at The Hawthorns anytime soon, both before and after his side snatched a 1-1 draw with the Baggies in South Wales on Saturday.
As a result, Eustace has displaced Williams as the front-runner to become Albion’s new manager, with Sky Bet placing the current Blackburn Rovers chief at 11/8; Williams dropping to third-favourite at 2/1.
Out-of-work Steven Schumacher, who was first linked at a similar time to Williams, is second in the running at 7/4, with a significant chasm from the top three to John Heitinga and Steve Cooper at 20/1.

There’s been no inkling from inside The Hawthorns as to whether Eustace, Schumacher or Williams is their preferred choice to take Corberan’s place in the dugout, but an appointment is surely close.
That’s certainly the suggestion that’s been given off by Albion chairman Shilen Patel’s social media posts, and with two weeks until their next league game, the time is now for a decision to be made.
In between now and the Baggies’ next Championship clash with Stoke City – who sacked Schumacher back in December 2023 – there’s the small matter of their FA Cup third round tie with Bournemouth.
This could prove to be the perfect jump-off point for any new Albion manager, with a match against currently high-flying Premier League opposition providing something of a free hit.
The sole goal this term at The Hawthorns is to remain competitive in the promotion battle, and it remains to be seen if Eustance or any other candidate has the ability to take that next step.
