West Brom new manager: Blackburn boss John Eustace to accept job after talks

John Eustace would “welcome a move” to West Brom if the Baggies were to pursue the current Blackburn Rovers manager, according to Chris Lepkowski.

Speaking via The Liquidator podcast [5 January, 25m, 30s], Lepkowski claimed that Eustace would “react positively” to an approach if the Baggies were to make one as their efforts to replace the departed Carlos Corberan go on.

West Brom have already been turned down by John Heitinga [De Telegraaf], while Mark Robins accepted the Stoke City job, but Eustace remains a possibility.

BBC journalist Lepkowski said: “Now, I don’t know whether John Eustace will be pursued in an official capacity, whether they will approach Blackburn and go for him.

“Again, I know there has been some form of dialogue and I know that John Eustace, who still lives in the West Midlands, would probably welcome a move, I believe.

“Irrespective of potential issues that we have with PSR, I don’t think would be a problem for him. I think he would react very positively should Albion make some form of a more formal approach. I do know that.”

John Eustace would be perfect fit for West Brom

Whether Eustace would opt to depart from Blackburn given their success so far this season is unknown, but one thing that is known is his credentials to lead a team forward.

Very few would have anticipated Rovers to be where they are this season, but it is a testament to the work done by Eustace on what is largely a shoestring budget.

While the season is still young, Blackburn are in an excellent position to go on and achieve a top-six finish, although those hopes would surely be curtailed if Eustace were to join West Brom.

West Brom

On the flip side, you’d imagine the Baggies’ hopes of promotion would go up significantly and it would be unsurprising to see the club pursue his services in the coming days.

One thing that remains clear is that West Brom need to ramp up their efforts to find Corberan’s successor if they are to keep up with the sides above them.
