West Brom in ‘closing stages’ of new manager hire, announcement timeframe mooted

West Brom are unlikely to announce a new manager until next week, according to Lewis Cox.

The Express & Star journalist reported on 10 January that interviews have taken place at The Hawthorns and an appointment is “certainly in the closing stages”.

An announcement isn’t expected from the Baggies until next week and it is still “unclear” whether further talks are scheduled in B71 or not.

West Brom closing in on new manager appointment

The Baggies are certainly in need of a new head coach, regardless of the positive work that Chris Brunt and Co. since taking over on an interim basis.

There is no doubt that Carlos Corberan is a tough man to replace but Albion do look to be closer to finding their alternative.

The likes of Raphael Wicky, Rene Hake and Urs Fischer have been linked to the post but supporters are still eagerly awaiting news of an appointment.

It does appear that this news isn’t far away for fans with an announcement set to come in the coming days, potentially ready for the Championship clash against Stoke City on 18 January.

This could all depend on if there are further talks going on at The Hawthorns which may delay proceedings before eventual confirmation.

Given how long this process has gone on for already, it would be ideal for the West Midlands club and it’s fans to have the managerial role filled as soon as possible.
