West Brom next manager: Full details shared on Raphael Wicky deal collapse

Raphael Wicky’s proposed managerial move to West Brom collapsed as a result of his backroom staff failing to obtain visas, according to DOOD.

Wicky looked all but set to be named as the new Baggies manager after it was claimed he was in the final stages of negotiations [Sky Sports].

However, a sudden twist saw the deal collapse on 13 January with the inability of his backroom staff to obtain a visa understood to be the reason behind the development.

West Brom’s search for Carlos Corberan’s successor goes on, with a resolution needed imminently.

Where now for West Brom in new manager search?

Given how deep into negotiations West Brom were with Wicky, it seems somewhat clear that he was their desired man and now those talks have collapsed, they will have to look elsewhere.

Sean Dyche has been installed as the bookies’ second favourite for the job, while Rene Hake is the new favourite.

Given we are approaching the halfway mark in the transfer window and have already surpassed that point in the Championship, a resolution is ended imminently otherwise the Baggies’ chances of achieving promotion will surely diminish.

It seems as though Chris Brunt will remain in charge for the foreseeable, with negotiations with other candidates set to take place.

Corberan departed the club at Christmas and it seems somewhat likely that the search for his successor could now enter its third week.

While Brunt has done a good job of maintaining their promotion hopes, an inability to make an appointment will reduce those chances.
