West Brom in hot pursuit of new striker after shattering Josh Maja news

West Brom are in pursuit of a new striker at The Hawthorns after suffering a crushing blow in the form of Josh Maja’s injury, according to Express and Star.

The news source reported via its website [14 January] that West Brom will be “in the market for more firepower” after the Baggies were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday when it was revealed Maja would face several weeks on the sideline.

Maja will undergo surgery on an injury sustained to his lower leg, leaving Devante Cole and Karlan Grant as the only available strikers at the club.

DOOD has also claimed that West Brom had a growing concern about how much game time he was being exposed to due to a lack of options.

West Brom situation is becoming a crisis

The circumstances at The Hawthorns were already concerning given the current managerial situation, and the injury blow with Maja just adds to that.

Of course, the injury now ramps up the needs to bring in a new attacker, which may be affected by the lack of managerial clarity.

It leaves Albion with lots of work to do in not so much time and, if they fail to do that, chances of achieving promotion will diminish day by day.

After such a good start to the campaign, it would be massively disappointing to see it fizzle out this way.

First and foremost, a new manager needs to be appointed somewhat imminently, and only then can the transfer business resume.

The Baggies will have their targets, but many may be put off based on the fact they will be unsure who they will be playing under and how much game time they will receive.
