West Brom next manager: New favourite emerges after Dyche holiday bombshell

Tony Mowbray is now leading the race to fill the vacant West Brom managerial spot following news about Sean Dyche, according to the bookmakers.

Sky Bet had the former Everton boss at 9/4 to become Carlos Corberan’s successor on Tuesday morning (14 January) but that already looks to have changed due to the 53-year-old enjoying his holiday [West Brom Xtra].

With Tony Mowbray now open to a return to The Hawthorns [Alan Nixon], currently waiting on a diagnosis of his health issues, the 61-year-old has now leapfrogged Dyche to the top of the pile.

Bet Victor certainly think so, anyway, who have placed Dyche at 7/2 while Mowbray is the 5/2 favourite to arrive at The Hawthorns after 16 years away.

Tony Mowbray to return to West Brom after 16 years away?

The majority of supporters would absolutely love to see the much-loved figure return to The Hawthorns, though some are slightly concerned by his recent health issues and time spent away from football.

However, if he is given the all-clear, there is no reason why he could not come back and help the Baggies secure success, with promotion to the Premier League very much on the agenda.

Dyche’s links to the Midlands certainly raised a few eyebrows, having only just been sacked from The Friedkin Group at Goodison Park, but he no longer looks to be an option anyway.

Shilen Patel will need to make a decision soon, with Chris Brunt only a temporary figure in the dugout currently, though some fans would not mind his role becoming permanent as a last resort.

Of course, there is a romantic factor to Mowbray’s possible return to The Hawthorns, but if he is fit and ready to return to football, there is no reason why he shouldn’t be the favourite for the job.
