West Brom transfer news: Isaac Price fee revealed as definitive update emerges

West Brom will pay Standard Liege £2.5million to sign Isaac Price, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The reliable Belgian journalist reported via his personal X account (20 January) that the Baggies have an agreement over the definitive signing of the midfielder.

Apart from the fee, which is already higher than what was initially reported, Standard Liege will also be entitled to a certain percentage of the profit the West Midlands outfit may make on his sale in the future.

Isaac Price to be first West Brom signing under Tony Mowbray

West Brom held off on making new signings this month amid uncertainty around their manager situation.

However, with Tony Mowbray returning to The Hawthorns, Albion are speeding up efforts to bolster their ranks for the second half of the season, with Price set to be their first signing of the winter transfer window.

The 21-year-old would add competition for places in the middle of the park, while also allowing Mowbray to rotate between the likes of Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt.

West Brom, though, are unlikely to complete Price’s signing in time for their trip to Middlesbrough on Tuesday, 21 December.

The home game against Portsmouth on Saturday (25 January) may be the ideal time for the Northern Ireland international to make his debut.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the Championship club will make more additions to their squad before the window closes on 3 February.

Nevertheless, Andrew Nestor will be hard at work in the final days of the window.

In other West Brom news, Mowbray’s speech to his players has been revealed after his emotional return.
