West Brom line up shock outfield signing on Deadline Day
West Brom are looking at signing an attacking midfielder before the winter transfer window closes on Monday, according to Steve Hermon.
The BBC Radio WM Sport journalist reported via his personal X account that the Baggies want to strengthen their midfield before the deadline at 11 pm on 3 February.
This is despite Tony Mowbray telling Hermon that he is happy with his midfield options after Albion’s 2-1 loss against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, 1 February.
West Brom set for busy end to window
West Brom entered the winter transfer window looking to sign a new striker and a central midfielder, which they did by bringing in Will Lankshear and Isaac Price.
However, the West Midlands outfit are eyeing a late move to sign a third player before the window slams shut on Monday evening.
Hermon did not mention the name of any players, so it remains to be seen what Mowbray and Andrew Nestor are planning behind the scenes at The Hawthorns.
Meanwhile, West Brom have been handed a major blow, with goalkeeper Alex Palmer set to join Ipswich Town in the Premier League for £2million, as per Sky Sports.
Lewis Cox, though, has claimed that Mowbray’s side will pocket a sum of £5m from Palmer‘s move to the Tractor Boys.
Nevertheless, the Championship outfit are set to lose their first-choice goalkeeper, with Josh Griffiths now touted to be recalled from his loan at Bristol Rovers.
Therefore, the Baggies are set for a few busy final hours in the winter transfer window.
