West Brom announce player has joined Stoke two days after transfer deadline
West Brom have announced that Adriel Walker has had his contract terminated at The Hawthorns with the 19-year-old joining Stoke City.
The Baggies confirmed via their official website on 5 February that Walker has left for the Potteries, less than seven months after agreeing on fresh terms at The Hawthorns.
Walker was once tipped for a bright future but failed to make a senior appearance for the Baggies with a chance now to kickstart his career at Stoke.
The 19-year-old had made six appearances for the youth team this season, registering one assist.
West Brom youngster set for greener pastures
While Walker had promise at the Midlands, any chance of a senior career at West Brom were minimal and the decision to terminate his contract is probably the right one to make.
Typically operating as a left-winger, Walker would have found it a remarkably difficult task to dethrone Mikey Johnston in the starting 11 and with his 20th birthday approaching this year, the aim for the youngster has to be regular football.

Given that West Brom are in the hunt for promotion, they simply couldn’t afford to take the risk on players like him, whereas Stoke may be in a far better position to ease him into the senior conversation.
A chance to showcase his worth elsewhere is the best option for Walker and there is no doubt that he will leave The Hawthorns with the best wishes from Baggies supporters.
In other West Brom news, Don Goodman said he would have “never, ever do” what a section of supporters did at The Hawthorns.
