QPR applauded as Furlong exit news emerges from West Brom

Darnell Furlong looks to be heading for a summer exit at West Brom as the transfer gossip begins to heat up.

It is no doubt going to be a summer of change at The Hawthorns. West Brom are still searching for their third permanent manager in a year as they aim for promotion back to the Premier League.

Ryan Mason is the favourite to take over at the Baggies, with the Spurs assistant manager regarded as a highly promising coach.

Yet the former England international may not have Furlong if he joins the club, as the full-back looks destined to leave the club this summer.

Lee Hendrie backs QPR to sign West Brom’s Furlong

Furlong’s West Brom future has come under doubt in recent weeks. The right-back has been a key player at the club for many years; however, this may be coming to an end this summer.

The 29-year-old’s former club QPR is believed to be interested in re-signing the defender.

Furlong was recently spotted at Loftus Road, which only increased speculation regarding the defender’s future.

Now, Hendrie has backed the London club to make a move for the Baggies’ star, believing it will be a good move.

He said to Football League World (4 May): “I’ve always been impressed with him. He’s always one of them solid players that you know you can get a solid eight out of ten from in most games.

“He puts on performances and gets himself forward. He gives them bags of experience, knows the football club well enough.

“I think he’d be a great signing for them, particularly with the younger players that they have. It would totally be a nice fit.”

West Brom need a summer clearout

After the failure to reach the playoffs this campaign, it is clear that West Brom need to completely reset their team.

Over the past few seasons, the club has been going backwards, and it is hard to see how this squad will get into the top six next season.

When the new manager is appointed, he should be allowed to completely revamp the team and allow players like Furlong to depart in favour of fresh blood.

Promotion to the Premier League has never been more important, and the Baggies must take drastic action if they are to achieve this.
