Corberan and Gourlay want West Brom attacker at Valencia after confirmed exit news
Carlos Corberan has a history of trying to sign players he has worked with before, and this won’t change away from West Brom.
Corberan previously tried to sign Lewis O’Brien when he was with the Albion, with the midfielder having played under the Spaniard at Huddersfield.
Since leaving the Baggies, Corberan has lifted Valencia from the relegation zone to a comfortable mid-table finish in La Liga.
Now, the Spanish giants are ready to strengthen their side, looking to West Brom for help.

Former West Brom duo want Baggies favourite
Ron Gourlay joined Albion following the departure of Valerien Ismael in February 2022.
After one and a half seasons, the former Chelsea CEO departed The Hawthorns in May 2023 after the Baggies finished ninth in the Championship.
After some time in Saudi Arabia, it was confirmed last week that Gourlay would be reuniting with Corberan at Valencia.
According to El Desmarque, in Spain, the pair are already eyeing a reunion with Grady Diangana, who will officially leave The Hawthorns at the end of June.
Diangana, 27, initially signed on loan from West Ham before the arrival of Corberan and Gourlay.
The Congolese winger then signed permanently, but failed to hit the heights of his loan season.
He will leave after 34 competitive matches this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in the Championship.
Season | Goal contributions for West Brom |
2019/20 | 15 |
2020-2025 | 33 |
Diangana represented England under-21s until switching his allegiance to the Congolese national team two years ago.
A move to Spain looks likely for the former Baggies favourite, who was previously linked with Celta Vigo, but it is thought that a reunion with Corberan is more likely.

Diangana could struggle in La Liga
Diangana’s potential new life in Spain could prove difficult.
The Congolese international has struggled this season and has only had two good years for the Baggies, despite the millions spent on him.
Diangana failed to nail down a starting place in the side towards the end of the season under Tony Mowbray, and a step up to La Liga could be tricky.
If he does join Valencia, he could find himself a regular on the bench, and Diangana has shown that when reduced to an impact substitute, he can struggle.
Instead, he should look at joining a team at a lower level where he can enjoy his prime footballing days, but this one could be too hard to turn down.
