‘West Brom take load off Daryl Dike as Shankland arrives for transfer’

West Brom are edging closer to making their first signing of the summer transfer window as they eye Lawrence Shankland.

The striker has been excellent in Scotland for a number of years and is Hearts’ captain.

The attacker has proven to be a consistent threat in the Scottish Premiership and has netted 68 times for the Jambos in three seasons.

Therefore, with his contract set to expire this summer, West Brom have made an attempt to bring Shankland to the Championship.

West Brom fans mixed over Shankland rumours

With Ryan Mason now manager at West Brom, the former Tottenham assistant coach has wasted no time in the transfer window.

Shankland has reportedly been at the Baggies’ training ground as he closes in on a move to the West Midlands.

However, West Brom fans are torn on the potential signing.

Many feel that the striker’s goalscoring record in the Scottish Premiership, combined with his leadership qualities, make him an excellent addition at The Hawthorns on a free transfer.

However, other fans are more uncertain about the prospect of signing Shankland. The striker’s age, combined with his average form in the Scottish Premiership this season has caused some of The Hawthorns’ faithful to be wary.

Shankland is risk-free signing for West Brom

While Baggies fans are rightly concerned about Shankland’s age as well as his record his season, he is a risk-free transfer for West Brom.

On a free transfer, Mason should look to take a risk on the Scottish international and bring him to The Hawthorns.

If the West Brom manager can rekindle his form from the previous two seasons, he could easily end up being a Golden Boot contender in the Championship.

This could turn out to be vital if the Baggies are to be in the race for promotion next season.

Hopefully, Mason is able to get the Shankland transfer over the line before more clubs come in for the striker.
