Aune Heggebo transfer update as Johnston millions taken away at West Brom
West Brom have been involved in significant transfer drama over recent days as they prepare for the new Championship season.
The Baggies face an unpredictable season under Ryan Mason, with the second tier stacked full of talent.
Aune Heggebo is said to be closing in on a move to West Brom and would join Nat Phillips and Jack Bray at The Hawthorns.
However, after developments on Mikey Johnston’s transfer to Flamengo, fears have arisen over his possible arrival.

West Brom learn impact of Johnston move on Heggebo transfer
Johnston seemed set to depart West Brom, with the winger ready to sign a four-year contract with the Brazilian giants.
However, news quickly changed, and Johnston’s proposed £5million move to Flamengo collapsed after supporter backlash.
The 26-year-old remains a West Brom player for now, although it will be interesting to see what develops over the remainder of the window.
Thankfully, Johnston’s stay will not have any impact on the Baggies’ plan to sign Heggebo, according to Steve Hermon (7 July).
| Aune Heggebo’s 2025 Eliteserien statistics | Total |
| Appearances | 13 |

The BBC WM commentator states that the Norwegian is close to sealing a move from SK Brann.
West Brom have reportedly agreed a £4.75million deal with the Norwegian outfit, and he is at the Baggies’ training camp in Austria completing his medical.
Johnston stays at The Hawthorns, but what does it mean?
Given that the Baggies would have received £5million for Johnston, many will wonder what it means for the Championship side.
Football finance expert Dan Plumley exclusively told West Brom news that the West Midlands club does not have any serious financial problems, despite running out of parachute payments.
This suggests that while the figure for Johnston would have been welcomed, they are in no need to secure that money for other transfers.
The former Celtic man made 40 appearances for the Baggies last season, with 25 of those starts.
Now, the 26-year-old is primed to challenge for a place in Mason’s squad for the new season, although he is one to watch alongside Heggebo.
