West Brom submit transfer bid to sign Luca Bombino

West Brom have perhaps not enjoyed the summer transfer window that they were expecting so far.

The arrival of Ryan Mason as manager brought plenty of optimism to The Hawthorns, but frustrations have slowly mounted as several potential transfer targets have slipped through their grasp.

Mikey Moore looks set to become the latest regret for West Brom, as the Tottenham starlet is now set to join Rangers on loan, despite having been heavily linked with a switch to B71.

The Baggies now have less than two weeks until they return to competitive action, which has added a fresh sense of urgency to their transfer business.

San Diego reject West Brom bid for Luca Bombino

West Brom have recently been linked with a move for Jamal Lewis, to address an area of concern that has mounted ont he left side of their defence.

The Northern Irishman has plenty of experience in the Premier League, but his injury record will be a significant worry.

However, the Baggies now appeared to have turned their attention towards a different left-back option in the form of American youngster Luca Bombino.

The 19-year-old is currently playing in the MLS for San Diego during a loan deal from LAFC, which is set to become permanent at the end of their season.

West Brom are understood to have had a bid for the defender knocked back, according to Tom Bogert via X (29 July).

San Diego are believed to have viewed the offer as falling below their valuation for the starlet, but they are expecting to receive more proposals in the future if he continues to impress.

West Brom need to address left-back issue

The left-back position has become a major priority for West Brom this summer, given that the futures of both Callum Styles and Gianluca Frabotta are both up in the air.

Mason will know that he needs to bolster his options within the next few weeks, in order to protect himself against any impending departures within his backline.

Bombino has already established himself as a regular in the MLS and has represented his country at both U19 and U20 levels since the middle of 2024.

It would be something of a gamble to bring in a player who has never played English football before, but the Baggies need upgrades and they need them quickly.
