Mason transfer wish shared ahead of West Brom clash v Blackburn Rovers

West Brom are less than a week away from their opening Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers.

The Baggies have four new arrivals this summer, with Nat Phillips, Aune Heggebo, and George Campbell through The Hawthorns doors.

However, Ryan Mason will want more signings through the door if his side are to match their top six aspirations.

Now, it sounds like the 34-year-old could get his wish after the latest transfer developments.

Mason set for more signings before West Brom opener

Mason revealed that Josh Maja should be available for the start of the season in a significant fitness boost.

The striker made an emphatic start to the 2024/25 campaign, but missed a sizeable chunk with injury.

While having Maja fit would be a boost, the West Midlands outfit would benefit from more signings ahead of the season opener.

West Brom recorded their first pre-season victory against Rayo Vallecano after a thrilling 3-2 win at The Hawthorns.

Now, Mason hopes to get two more players in before his side face Rovers on Saturday afternoon, according to Dood, who posted on X (4 August): “Mason hopes to get two in before Blackburn.”

What business could happen before Albion’s clash with Blackburn?

West Brom are short of goalkeepers, with Josh Griffiths and Joe Wildsmith the only options for Mason.

However, Albion have been linked with a move for Angus Gunn, who is available as a free agent after leaving Norwich City.

The West Midlands club would be wise to bring in a new shot-stopper sharpish, given the doubts over their current crop.

Gunn has significant Championship experience under his belt, with 166 league appearances to his name.

Elsewhere, the Baggies have been linked with forward Chris Ramos, and there have been reports of a £2.1million bid.

Although there is interest from Spain, it appears that West Brom have offered more for the striker’s services.

In terms of outgoings, Torbjorn Heggem has been the subject of interest from Bologna, who submitted an opening offer of £5.6million.

With time ticking, the West Midlands outfit must act fast to secure two new signings before the Championship opener.
