West Brom making transfer mistake as Donley set for medical
West Brom and Ryan Mason are yet to utilise their strong relationship with Tottenham this summer.
Last season, Will Lankshear spent an underwhelming second half of the season on loan with the Baggies, before the Albion made a permanent addition from Spurs by appointing Mason.
Mason had been backed to convince Tottenham to send some of their youngsters back out on loan to The Hawthorns, but he has so far failed to do so.

Jamie Donley to join Stoke City
West Brom had been linked with another loan move for Lankshear this summer, but the forward has now joined Championship rivals Oxford United.
The Albion have been beaten to several signings this summer, as they look to be trailing behind in the transfer window.
They now look to have missed out on Tottenham’s promising attacking midfielder Donley.
Spurs supporters were convinced Donley was signing for West Brom after Lilywhite Rose reported (1 August) that the 20-year-old was headed to the Championship.
In an update on Tuesday (5 August), Lilywhite Rose shared that Donley was set for a medical.
However, as reported by Alasdair Gold (5 August), the young Spurs star is on his way to Stoke.
Donley’s move to the Baggies’ Championship rivals shows just how much they are struggling in the transfer window.
Mason should be utilising his Tottenham connections this summer, instead of letting youngsters join their Championship rivals.
West Brom to regret Donley and Lankshear deals
The Baggies will regret letting both Lankshear and Donley join their rivals.
The Albion could end up falling behind in the Championship next season, with the transfer window woes continuing.
Mason’s side require attacking reinforcements for their 2025/26 campaign, having only signed Aune Heggebo so far.
With their opener with Blackburn now right around the corner, the Baggies don’t have a squad to compete for the top six. As a result, this will worry supporters.
