‘Superb news’… West Brom fans are absolutely delighted at ‘amazing’ club announcement
West Brom have been handed yet another boost after a hugely positive start to the season.
With two games gone in the Championship, Ryan Mason has overseen two wins in a 100 per cent start to life as a head coach in the second tier.
An Isaac Price double secured West Brom’s win against Wrexham, making it six points from a possible six for the Baggies.
It is this early form that has helped take away some frustration at The Hawthorns, some of which emerged after Torbjorn Heggem’s departure to Bologna.
With that being said, any positive news in and around B71 is being celebrated by fans, with many reaching out after the latest Albion announcement.

West Brom fans react to Alex Mowatt’s contract extension
There is little room for error in the West Midlands for the rest of the summer, having already parted ways with a number of first-team faces.
The loss of Heggem was certainly a blow, making the Norway international the fifth player to leave the Baggies since the end of last campaign.
- Torbjorn Heggem – Bologna
- Gianluca Frambotta – Free agent
- Kyle Bartley – Retired
- John Swift – Portsmouth
- Semi Ajayi – Hull City
This has certainly been matched by a number of signings, with the likes of Aune Heggebo and Nat Phillips already catching the eye for West Brom.
These have most recently been the signing of Toby Collyer from Manchester United, but it is a contract extension which has caught the eye on Wednesday (20 August).
West Brom confirmed that Alex Mowatt has penned a new deal until the summer of 2027 after a positive start to the year under Mason.
Many supporters in the Black Country have been left impressed by this news, with one describing it as “superb news”, while another thought it was “amazing”.
Alex Mowatt has started the season well
There is a certain section of The Hawthorns faithful who aren’t the greatest fans of the former Barnsley man and his performances.
On the flip side, many believe that the Englishman has something to add to the squad moving forward, and that has been on show this campaign already.
Stat per 90 | Alex Mowatt |
Pass accuracy (%) | 89.5 |
Chances created | 2.13 |
Duels won | 4.26 |
Tackles won | 1.07 |
The 30-year-old has put in a number of positive performances, which have been all-action despite not grabbing a goal or an assist to this point.
As a result, tying Mowatt down to a new deal makes complete sense for West Brom as they look to build a stable squad with quality and experience available across the board.
