West Brom agree yet another departure as ‘impressive’ star seals Championship move

Ryan Mason will be without another player as West Brom continues their quest for promotion this season.

West Brom has seen several players leave the club this summer. John Swift was present during their draw to Portsmouth, but this time on the opposite side of the pitch.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ted Cann signed for League One side Rotherham on a free transfer. Now the Baggies are set to lose another player as the summer window nears its end.

Caleb Taylor signs for Millwall

West Brom have let Caleb Taylor leave The Hawthorns in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Taylor starred during a successful loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers last season, who narrowly missed their chance for promotion in the League One play-offs.

But with little game time anticipated at The Hawthorns this season, Taylor has left his boyhood club for Millwall.

The 22-year-old defender has been on Millwall’s radar for some time and is expected to improve their defence following Japhet Tanganga’s exit to Sheffield United.

Are West Brom well-stocked in defence?

While Taylor was not a massive feature for the Baggies, the departure of another defender after Torbjorn Heggem raises questions.

However, it seems Mason has planned for this. Nat Phillips arrived to West Brom this summer from Liverpool while George Campbell was signed from Montreal.

Krystian Bielik and Chris Mepham are also new recruits. And while not a defender, defensive midfielder Toby Collyer was brought in from Manchester United on loan to help shield the backline.

With Filip Beckman also tipped to arrive at West Brom, the Baggies have a solid foundation at the back.

As a result, Albion should not only be looking to do well in the Championship this season. With Mason’s flying start, West Brom have what it takes to earn Premier League promotion.
