Chris Brunt hails ‘massive’ player who’s ‘a breath of fresh air’ for West Brom
West Brom have a player who has ensured Premier League promotion is very much attainable this season.
Ryan Mason has been chasing Premier League promotion since the fresh Championship season commenced.
West Brom kicked things off with a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers before celebrating another victory over Wrexham the following match day.
Even after West Brom dropped points against Portsmouth, the Baggies remain unbeaten in the Championship. And if one player keeps up his stellar form, Albion could win it all this season.

Chris Brunt praises Isaac Price after goal vs Germany
Isaac Price continued his red-hot form for West Brom during Northern Ireland’s 3-1 defeat to Germany in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The attacking midfielder netted the initial equaliser from a corner kick to become the youngest player to score 10 goals for Northern Ireland.
Current Baggies loan player manager Chris Brunt had more than enough praise for Price after watching him score for his national side.
Speaking to BBC One Northern Ireland on 7 September, he said: “He’s been a breath of fresh air since he came to the football club in January.
“He’s continued his form this season for us on the pitch, like he’s been doing at international level for the last year or so. That is why he’s on the pitch.
“Sometimes he can be erratic, sometimes he gives the ball away, but he brings a massive goal threat from all areas and his energy and his enthusiasm to work as well. He’s a top, top player.”
West Brom have an Isaac Price problem
Price’s start to the season for West Brom has been terrific, netting three goals and providing one assist in the Championship.
The feat has him as the Baggies’ top scorer thus far, and here is where the problem lies.
- West Brom has scored six goals in the Championship so far, and Price has netted half of these
- Jed Wallace, Michael Johnston and Nathaniel Phillips have all scored one
While it is still early days, this suggests an over-reliance on Price to find the back of the net, which could spell trouble later in the season.
Meanwhile, striker Aune Heggebo has started all four Championship games for Albion and is yet to etch his name on the scoresheet.
Heggebo recently joined the Baggies from SK Brann, so he can be afforded a little bit of grace. However, West Brom fans and Mason’s patience will not last for long, especially if Price’s goals dry up.
Therefore, while it is not yet time to sound the alarm, this is something bound to cross Mason’s mind if it persists.
