Callum Styles exceeding expectations after what he’s done at West Brom
Callum Styles is proving his naysayers wrong at West Brom under Ryan Mason this season.
The Hungary international has been the English manager’s first choice left-back this season as the Baggies are unbeaten in the Championship.
Mason has Charlie Taylor at his disposal after his loan move from Southampton in the previous transfer window, but the 31-year-old arguably needs to work hard to get into the starting lineup.
Even if the Englishman gets into the backlines, Styles’ versatility at The Hawthorns could see him play further up front after arguably cementing his place in the Albion’s plans.

West Brom duo Nat Phillips and Callum Styles in Championship Team of the Season
Styles and Nat Phillips have been a massive part of the Baggies’ success under Mason so far.
The Albion duo are included in WhoScored’s Championship Team of the Season after the first four matches of the campaign.
With a rating of 7.3, the Hungarian star has been adjudged as being the best left-back in the league so far, which won’t come as a surprise for The Hawthorns faithful after seeing him regularly in action.
It’s also important to note that the left side of defence is not the 25-year-old’s natural position, having a reputation as a versatile midfielder before joining the Black Country club.

Callum Styles season in numbers at The Hawthorns
Styles was impressive for Hungary against Ireland in the midfield on 6 September, and the Baggies fans now want to see him play in a similar role in B71.
The left-back has come under criticism at times from fans due to some of his defensive frailties, but his attacking qualities more than make up for it.
It isn’t surprising to see Mason relying on the Hungarian ace, considering he’s comfortable with the ball and has an eye for a pass.

West Brom wanted Harrison Armstrong in the previous transfer window, but Styles may provide a ready-made solution for them.
The defender has an 86.4 per cent passing accuracy per 90 minutes at the Baggies this season, creating four chances in the Championship so far.
While defensive statistics of winning 3.25 tackles and 7.25 duels per 90 minutes are impressive, an average of 76.5 touches in every game shows that the Hungary international may be comfortable playing in the middle of the park for Mason, but it remains to be seen whether that will happen.
