Ryan Mason will be delighted at Chris Mepham developments away from West Brom
Ryan Mason could have been handed a boost in his search for Premier League promotion.
Albion have gotten off to a stellar start to the season. West Brom’s slim 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers got them on their way, while a 3-2 win over Wrexham increased confidence at The Hawthorns.
Despite dropping points against Portsmouth, Albion’s 1-0 victory over Stoke City means they remain unbeaten in the Championship.
While it is still early days, Mason will be looking at Premier League promotion for Albion and will be pleased with the latest developments.

Chris Mepham starts on the bench for Wales
Chris Mepham started against Stoke City after arriving at Albion during the final days of the summer transfer window.
It was suggested that Mason was boosted by Mepham’s arrival, given that he saw Premier League promotion with Bournemouth and Sunderland. And it seems the Albion manager will be delighted with the defender’s international break.
Mepham started on the bench for Wales in their 1-0 defeat to Canada on Tuesday, 9 September. This came after he went off in the 86th minute on Thursday, 4 September, against Kazakhstan, with what was likely a knock.
While Mepham did take to the pitch against Canada, he played for five minutes before the full-time whistle was blown.

What is Chris Mepham’s injury record?
Mepham has had a pretty solid injury record for while at Bournemouth. The 27-year-old spent six seasons with the Cherries and was consistently available for the Premier League side.
While a knee injury during the 2019/20 season saw him miss 136 days, he only missed 9 games for the club.
- Mepham has missed 36 games in the past six seasons for club and country
- The longest stretch of games Mepham missed for Bournemouth was 11 during the 2023/24 season
Meanwhile, the centre-back was available for Bournemouth throughout the 2021/22 and 2024/25 seasons. As such, Mepham could prove to be a valuable asset for Mason as the season progresses.
