West Brom vs Derby County result predicted by supercomputer

West Brom have a special afternoon ahead of them on Saturday when they welcome Derby County to B71.

The Baggies are celebrating the 125th anniversary of The Hawthorns, and will take on their very first opponents at their famous home ground as they aim to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

West Brom have recently seen The Hawthorns turn 125, and Saturday’s clash should be a fitting way to round off the celebrations.

Amid all the anticipation for the game, Ryan Mason’s men will be gunning to secure another three points on home turf to retain their place at the top end of the early Championship table.

West Brom are strong favourites to beat Derby County

West Brom secured a huge win over Stoke City in their final outing before the international break, as they downed one of the division’s early pacesetters to stretch their unbeaten start to the new campaign to an impressive five games.

The Black Country outfit have lofty aspirations this term, and they already find themselves in a handy position, as they sit second in the build-up to this weekend’s encounter.

Derby are the latest opponents for Mason’s side, and they will arrive in B71 with plenty of confidence, having already defeated their hosts on penalties in the Carabao Cup this season.

However, the Rams are expected to struggle in this weekend’s clash, with Opta’s supercomputer suggesting that Albion are heavy favourites for the anniversary game.

The Baggies are estimated to have a 56.8% chance of claiming all three points on Saturday, while their visitors’ chances sit at a lowly 20.6%.

The Hawthorns will be crucial in promotion push

West Brom will fancy their chances of securing a Premier League return this season, and if they are to continue to compete at the top of the Championship, then it is vital that they push on from their strong start at home.

The Championship’s strongest home records in 2024/25.

The Baggies had the division’s seventh-best home record last term, but they will need to improve upon that and turn their ground into a fortress if they are to have genuine promotion aspirations.

Last season’s automatically promoted duo of Leeds United and Burnley lost just one home game between them throughout 2024/25, and that showcases the level that Albion need to hit if they want to reach the promised land again.

It may be early into the new campaign, but if they can sustain their unbeaten run on Saturday, then they are firmly on their way to establishing a fearsome home record.
