Ryan Mason to rage after mindblowing record from West Brom loss vs Derby County
West Brom will feel hard done by after losing to Derby County in the Championship on Saturday.
John Eustace’s team travelled to The Hawthorns on 13 September, with Andreas Weimann’s 84th-minute strike securing a 1-0 victory for the visitors.
Ryan Mason may decide to get Josh Maja in the starting lineup for the next fixture against Middlesbrough on 19 September after the Albion scuffed their chances in the final third against the Rams.
The Black Country outfit arguably dominated most of the proceedings in B71, but it was Derby who got the three points in the end.

Derby County had nine touches in opposition box vs West Brom
Derby had just nine touches in the opposition box against the Baggies in their 1-0 victory.
What’s even more mind-boggling is the fact that Weimann had five of those nine touches in the buildup to the Rams’ goal at The Hawthorns.
The Albion had the upper hand for most of the fixture, with an xG of 1.15 compared to Derby’s 0.32.
West Brom | Statistics | Derby County |
68% | Possession | 32% |
1.15 | xG | 0.32 |
1 | Big chances | 0 |
18 | Total shots | 4 |
4 | Shots on target | 1 |
1 | Hit woodwork | 0 |
32 | Touches in opposition box | 9 |
In terms of touches in the opposition box, the Black Country outfit had 32, but failed to make the most of their opportunities.
Mason was raging at The Hawthorns during the second half due to a delay in proceedings as officials looked to remove a dead pigeon from the pitch.
The English manager may also not be pleased to see the West Midlands club attempt 18 shots without any end product, while the Rams scored with their one shot on target.

Ryan Mason suffers promotion blow at The Hawthorns
Mason was predicted to finish third in the Championship after the previous transfer window, but that prospect has arguably taken a hit with the loss.
West Brom have lost their first league game under the English manager, and that was always a fear after Derby’s win in the Carabao Cup first round a few weeks back.
While there’s still a long way to go in the season, consistency will undoubtedly be key for the Albion to achieve their goals in the current campaign.
It will be interesting to see how Mason and the players will react to the loss against the Rams for the Middlesbrough fixture.
