West Brom fans to rage at ‘insane’ Darnell Furlong admission at Ipswich Town
Darnell Furlong would be wise not to anger the West Brom support after the affection shown to him over the years.
The 29-year-old ended his six-year stint at the Baggies last summer after completing a switch to Ipswich Town for £4million, including add-ons.
George Campbell moved to The Hawthorns in the previous transfer window and has been given the opportunity to make the right-back spot his own in B71, making a positive impression in the opening few matches.
Ryan Mason will hope to achieve Premier League promotion in the current campaign, and while recent results have been disappointing, the intent at the Albion will arguably be to end their five-year absence from the English top flight.

Darnell Furlong convinced about Ipswich Town transfer from West Brom due to ambition
Ipswich’s aims for the season are what persuaded Furlong to leave the Baggies.
The ex-Albion defender described the ambition at Portman Road as “insane”, with it being the main pull for him to leave The Hawthorns.
Is the 29-year-old somehow suggesting that the Black Country outfit aren’t serious about their goals? Fans in B71 want to see Mason succeed in the current campaign, and the English right-back’s admission will certainly be deemed offensive among supporters.
Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times on 23 September, Furlong said: “But looking at Ipswich from the outside, the ambition is insane. To see what the club wants to do is clear, and that was the main pull to come here. Since I’ve been here, it’s been nothing but the same feeling.”

Ryan Mason will be confident of Premier League promotion at The Hawthorns
Mason was predicted to finish third in the Championship after the previous transfer window, as he leads the Baggies in his first-ever job as a head coach.
The Albion started the season on the front foot, but have since faced disappointments against Derby County and Middlesbrough.
With back-to-back losses, the Black Country outfit have fallen to seventh in the Championship, but there’s still a long way to go in the league.
- Furlong made 247 appearances for the Baggies in all competitions.
- The right-back was the first name on the team sheet for the Albion for several years.
- Last season, the defender scored one goal and provided three assists in 42 league appearances.
West Brom face Leicester City at The Hawthorns on 26 September, and Mason will be looking to get back to winning ways.
The Baggies have assembled a solid defensive line with Nat Phillips and Chris Mepham, and just need to find a solution for their attacking woes now.
With Ipswich sitting in 17th place, Furlong may have made the wrong decision after all.
