West Brom hailed for securing ‘big coup’ amid major announcement at The Hawthorns
West Brom have enjoyed a hugely positive start to the 2025-26 campaign in recent weeks.
Expectations were high for the Black Country outfit this term after highly-regarded ex-Tottenham coach Ryan Mason took the reins for his first permanent job in senior management.
Things have gone well for the 34-year-old so far, with his West Brom side flying high in the Championship following an impressive 1-0 win over Norwich City in midweek.
Positivity is rife at The Hawthorns as a result of the promising start, and it is unlikely to have dampened at all as the B71 outfit confirmed an exciting piece of news on Friday.

West Brom fans delighted as Alex Williams signs new deal
Alex Williams caught the eye for West Brom during their Carabao Cup defeat to Derby County at the start of August.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut as his side were knocked out by the Rams, but he delivered the kind of all-action display that will live long in the memory of supporters.
The academy prospect produced an impressive showing at right-back and was then rewarded with his first minutes in the EFL in the latter stages of the win over Stoke City at the end of the month.

Albion fans have been hugely excited to see the young prospect burst onto the scene with the first team, and that excitement will only have been boosted by the announcement that Williams has signed a new contract.
The Wales U21 international is likely to be out until Christmas due to an injury sustained while on international duty, but he has been rewarded with a new deal that will keep him with the Baggies until the summer of 2028.
Albion fans have been quick to praise the club for their efforts to tie down a promising young talent on X, with one fan even describing the news as a “big coup.”
Albion protected with Williams new deal
Josh Griffiths starred for West Brom in the win over Norwich, and the hope will be that Williams can follow in the footsteps of his fellow academy graduate and become a regular starter for his boyhood club.
- @ItsSamson2 via X: “Good news, looks a really good prospect.”
- @BlakeCalum23 via X: “Bright future this kid. If it wasn’t for the injury he’d be pushing for a place.”
- @B_H_Baggie via X: “Big show of confidence in the young man especially after the injury he recently suffered to keep him out of action for quite some time. Fair play to the lad.”
With that in mind, the new deal will be invaluable for the Baggies moving forward, as it provides them with the security that will be needed as he develops.
The starlet has already shown that he has what it takes to compete at Championship level, and that is only going to attract prying eyes from elsewhere as his improvement continues.
By tying him down to a lengthy new deal, Mason and Co. have ensured that the youngster’s future will be decided on their terms for the foreseeable future.
