Why Ryan Mason needs Karlan Grant now more than ever amid West Brom injury news

Ryan Mason and West Brom are in desperate need of change in performances when they return to action after the international break.

West Brom’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Millwall on Saturday meant travelling fans left the stands with 20 minutes still to play at the New Den.

The loss has rightly put Mason under fire at West Brom, as the result came after two positive performances against Leicester City and Norwich in the Championship.

Mason has been without Karlan Grant for some time, as the Black Country club have had struggles in the forward areas this season.

However, Mason has just provided arguably the best news yet on Grant‘s injury situation.

Karlan Grant could return to training for West Brom during the international break

West Brom have an intense period of fixtures when they return from the international break, and Grant may be back to help the Baggies through it, as Josh Maja has also recovered fully.

As shared by the Express & Star, Mason is hopeful in responses to questions over whether the attacker will return before Albion’s next games.

“We hope so. He’s certainly someone we’ve missed,” Mason said.

Having Grant back will provide a different option up top, someone who is direct and can score goals, but someone who also just makes the Albion a better team.

Mason has a 100% Championship record when starting Grant for West Brom

Grant has only started in two Championship games for Mason before his injury, but in both games, Albion came out victorious.

He is a versatile forward who can play across the front line, and with concerns over Jed Wallace mounting, we could see the returning man have no trouble getting back in the side.

Mikey Johnston and Grant have already proven to be two successful outlets on either side when starting in the same team, as Mason will look to strike the perfect balance in Albion’s attack.

Grant’s last game came off the bench in a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth at the end of August, as he will look to impact the Baggies’ results positively when returning.

He is needed now more than ever.
