Isaac Price has just done something away from West Brom that BBC pundit simply loves

Isaac Price has slowed down in recent weeks, after what was a terrific start to the season for West Brom.

Ryan Mason has faced calls to drop Price, with the winger noticeably poor against Millwall before the international break.

West Brom lost 3-0 to Millwall, and the 22-year-old failed to leave any impression on the opposition.

The Baggies themselves have faced a drop-off in form in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five Championship fixtures.

Price’s early performances prompted worries he’d leave West Brom, with the Northern Ireland international netting three goals in the opening two league games.

Isaac Price impresses for Northern Ireland vs Slovakia

Price became the youngest player to score 10 goals for Northern Ireland last month, with the winger guiding home a stunning volley against Germany.

His performance against Slovakia on Friday was different, but it was arguably more important for his nation.

A David Strelec own-goal and a goal from Sunderland’s Trai Hume gave Northern Ireland three huge points, which could ultimately prove key to their World Cup qualification hopes.

Price was played in a forward role alongside Jamie Reid, and created more chances than any other player on the pitch.

But it was his defensive work that stood out, with the 22-year-old not willing to give his opponents even a moment on the ball throughout the contest.

Former Northern Ireland international Stephen Craigan noticed the winger’s work, and said live on BBC NI during the match: “Isaac Price has really impressed me tonight.

He hasn’t had a lot of the ball, but he has stuck to his task.”

How did Northern Ireland media react to Price display vs Slovakia?

Price’s performance was rated highly within Northern Ireland, with the forward praised for his efforts.

The Belfast Telegraph wrote on Friday that the 22-year-old “signalled his side’s intent with early burst forward,” and gave him a 7/10 rating.

No dynamic finish here but, like his teammates, put in a huge shift,” the paper wrote.

Price’s run without a goal or assist may have stretched to a sixth game for club and country, but his defensive qualities were certainly on show against Slovakia and that is never a bad trait to have.
