Iling-Junior recalled amid four Ryan Mason changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Preston

West Brom are set to continue their league campaign on Saturday afternoon when they face high-flying Preston.

The visitors to The Hawthorns this weekend have enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign, and find themselves sat fourth in the early-season Championship table, having lost just once from their opening nine games.

West Brom will be desperate to beat Preston, as their own strong start has faded somewhat in recent weeks after three defeats from their last five outings.

Ryan Mason’s men were soundly beaten away at Millwall in their last game before the international break, and with that in mind, the boss is likely to ring the changes this time around.

Iling-Junior starts as Alfie Gilchrist gets full West Brom debut

Iling-Junior has been electric for West Brom in recent weeks, which made it a surprising decision for Mason to drop him for the trip to Bermondsey last time out.

The young winger was excellent in his full debut in the draw with Leicester City, as he scored a stunning solo goal while also completing 100 per cent of his dribbles across the 90 minutes.

He then followed that up with a similarly impressive display in the win at Norwich City, in which he also showcased the defensive side of his game, as he completed four defensive actions throughout proceedings (Sofascore).

Iling-Junior’s energy and creativity were sorely missed at Millwall, and as a result, Mason will surely recall him to the starting XI for this weekend’s clash.

Elsewhere, the boss is likely to revert to his tried and tested methods after such a disappointing result, with Alex Mowatt coming back into the midfield and Josh Maja leading the line.

The Baggies faithful have been clamouring for new signing Alfie Gilchrist to get his first start in recent weeks, and Mason may not be able to resist the temptation to shake things up and throw him into the team this week.

Ryan Mason will hope that positive Preston record continues

West Brom have an excellent record against Preston of late, and Mason and Co. will certainly be hoping to see that continue in B71 on Saturday.

Albion are unbeaten in their last five clashes with the Lancashire outfit, who have found the back of the net just twice during that spell.

In home games against Paul Heckingbottom’s side, the Baggies are usually formidable, with Preston having avoided defeat just once in their last 10 visits to The Hawthorns.

West Brom are badly in need of a positive result after their shoddy recent form, and they will be desperate to see Saturday’s game follow the typical pattern.
