Watford vs West Brom preview: Team news, line-ups, prediction
West Brom will look to mark consecutive victories in the Championship when they take on Watford on Wednesday.
Stunning strikes from Mikey Johnston and Isaac Price saw West Brom beat Preston North End 2-1 at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Johnston’s goal against Preston drew huge praise, in particular, with the winger’s devastating drive hit from long range.
It was a confidence-boosting day for Ryan Mason‘s team, who now find themselves above their opponents and in the league’s top five.
Despite the disparity in table positions, Watford are the favourites against West Brom, with Javi Gracia looking to win on his return to Vicarage Road.

Team news
Karlan Grant made his return to action against Preston, and Daryl Dike was named on the bench.
Both players have spent much of the season on the injury table, but are expected to play a part against Watford.
There is negative news for the Baggies, too, unfortunately. Jed Wallace missed the Preston game and is expected to be out of action for some time.
Toby Collyer was forced off in the same game, and West Brom face a nervous wait on the midfielder’s availability for Wednesday’s game.
Watford will be without Giorgi Chakvetadze, who is still recovering from a foot injury, and Neto Borges, who is dealing with a leg problem.
Predicted lineups
Watford: Selvik; Ngakia, Keben, Pollock, Bola; Kyprianou, Louza, Sissoko, Kayembe; Irankunda, Kjerrumgaard
West Brom: Griffiths; Campbell, Mepham, Phillips, Styles; Molumby, Mowatt, Price; Johnston, Heggebo, Grant

Prediction: Watford 0-2 West Brom
Defence will be the key for West Brom on Wednesday night. Mason’s side have been largely resolute going backwards this season, despite the Millwall blip.
Watford have struggled for goals at times, but do possess danger going forward. And given the return of Gracia, will be bolstered by a hyped up Vicarage Road.
Watford | Championship 2025-26 | West Brom |
12 | Points | 17 |
11 | Scored | 11 |
12 | Conceded | 11 |
13.8 | Expected goals (xG) | 11.6 |
11.8 | Expected goals against (xGA) | 10.6 |
The Baggies can quiet down that crowd by remaining strong at the back, and taking their chances when they come.
Aune Heggebo has scored just twice since his arrival at The Hawthorns, but the striker can kick on with a goal here, and prove his place in the starting line-up.
