Aune Heggebo returns in three Ryan Mason changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Charlton

Ryan Mason will be under pressure to secure all three points against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

West Brom’s goalless draw to Sheffield Wednesday means that the Baggies are winless in three Championship games.

Indeed, Mason was greatly criticised for West Brom’s timid approach against the Owls in what was another passive performance.

As a result, the Albion head coach will be keen to get back on track in the Championship against Charlton on 4 November at the Valley.

Karlan Grant to replace Samuel Iling-Junior after disastrous performance vs Sheffield Wednesday

Samuel Iling-Junior’s performance against Sheffield Wednesday was no doubt his worst in an Albion shirt.

It was a train wreck from beginning to end:

Not to mention that the right winger failed to register a single shot or chance while on the pitch, according to Sofascore.

As a result, Karlan Grant could take Iling-Junior’s place in the starting lineup to offer something new in attack, especially after shining on the right off the bench.

Furthermore, Aune Heggebo has been the direct alternative to Josh Maja this season, and after a difficult game against the Owls, the Norwegian international could start over Maja against Charlton.

With both Jayson Molumby and Toby Collyer unavailable, Mason is short on midfield options and therefore could again start Ousmane Diakite, Alex Mowatt and Issac Price against the Addicks.

Mason’s last change could be a defensive one. Indeed, Charlie Taylor could replace Callum Styles as left-back, with his final ball easily better.

Indeed, Taylor showed promise when he was subbed on for Styles against Sheffield Wednesday and after starting 10 out of 12 Championship games this seaosn, the latter could do with a rest.

With West Brom’s Premier League promotion hopes slipping away, Mason could be tempted to try something new and starting Taylor would definitely fit the bill.

Other than that, Albion’s backline will likely remain unchanged heading into Tuesday’s confrontation.

Ryan Mason will not work miracles against Charlton

After the departure of Tom Fellows, creativity has been Mason’s biggest challenge at West Brom.

Indeed, the Baggies have netted 12 Championship goals this season, which is the fourth fewest in the league.

West Brom have also created 19 big chances, and to put this in perspective, Coventry City tops the chart with 42 created and 36 goals scored.

A team that has struggled to score and create is not magically going to net four or five in a game.

However, given that the Baggies statistically possess one of the best defences in the league, conceding just 14 goals this season, Mason can afford to take more risks in attack.

Therefore, while he may not be able to work miracles, Mason will have a real shot at securing all three points on Tuesday.
